UPE Year-End Round Up
This school year, Special Olympics Maryland’s Unified Physical Education (UPE) program supported 9 local school systems across 64+ classrooms in elementary, middle, and high schools, engaging 1,719 students statewide.
To celebrate a successful year, more than 10 UPE celebrations were held across 4 Local School Systems, highlighting the impact and achievements of students and educators. Anne Arundel County Public Schools also marked the occasion with a special outing to a Bowie Baysox game.
A huge thank you to all of our UPE champions—students, teachers, supervisors, principals, and paraeducators—this work would not be possible without your dedication and support.
Special Olympics Maryland has also released a short video showcasing why Unified Physical Education continues to grow and why it is truly a program that is BEST for EVERYONE. We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch and celebrate the impact of inclusion in action!
