Summer Games – Very Important Update

After a great deal of consideration and conferring with additional individuals with expertise in sport and heat conditions, we have decided to cancel all outdoor activities for the Summer Games. This includes Friday night’s Block Party as well as competition on Saturday and Sunday for Athletics (track & field), Bocce, and Softball.

Here is a summary of what will still be held and what has been cancelled for this weekend.

Events Still Happening As Planned:

  • Opening Ceremonies
  • Young Athletes
  • Swim Competition
  • Healthy Athletes
  • Pickleball Demonstration
  • Olympic Park & Dance

Events Cancelled:

  • Block Party (Friday Evening)
  • Athletics Competition
  • Softball Competition
  • Bocce Competition

Individuals attending Opening Ceremony should plan to arrive at the TU Arena between 6:00 and 7:00 and go directly into the air-conditioned arena.

We recognize this is very disappointing for our athletes and Unified teammates, coaches, family members, volunteers and all others who have worked so hard throughout this season to prepare for their competition this weekend. Rest assured that this decision was made with the health and safety of our competitors, coaches, volunteers and families/spectators. While we are very prepared to address any heat issue that might arise, we have made this decision to ensure that we don’t have such incidents to address.

We encourage all of our Athletics (track & field), Bocce and Softball athletes to join us on Saturday and take advantage of Healthy Athletes and Olympics Park and the dance in the evening. Unfortunately, the swimming venue cannot accommodate any additional spectators or visitors.

Once again, we know this is disappointing news and we appreciate your understanding.
