Sponsor Spotlight: Wawa

We are incredibly grateful for our longstanding partnership with Wawa. Each year during Plunge season, from late December through March 1, Wawa customers support Special Olympics Maryland athletes through the annual Scan Card and Coin/Round-Up campaigns. At the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge Presented by Allegis Group, Wawa is on site serving coffee and hot chocolate to plungers, supporters, and volunteers.

Here in Maryland, Wawa’s support extends well beyond the Plunge. On April 16, Wawa and The Wawa Foundation celebrated the 62nd anniversary of Wawa’s first store by providing gift cards, which we shared with some of our incredible volunteers as a small token of appreciation. Wawa also recently completed a Smartwater campaign in support of this year’s USA Games, benefiting delegations in Wawa communities, including Team Maryland. In addition, The Wawa Foundation will provide a sendoff package for Team Maryland athletes, coaches, and delegation members.

Since its launch in 2014, The Wawa Foundation has supported more than 8,000 organizations throughout the communities it serves. Special Olympics Maryland is honored to be among those organizations and deeply appreciative of Wawa’s continued commitment to our athletes and mission.
