Prince George’s County Challenge Day
A Leader in Adapted Physical Education and Special Olympics Motor Activities Training Program
As a component of our broad range of sport offerings and our commitment to including all ability levels. We offer a Motor Activities Training Program (MATP) as a non-competitive, motor skill development program for individuals with more significant cognitive challenges that in some cases are accompanied by a range of physical challenges. Prince George’s County has a rich history as a leader in Adapted Physical Education that was on display on March 6th, when a Challenge Day was hosted by C. Elizabeth Reig Regional School. Students showcased their skills and abilities in a range of sports skills stations adapted to include the wide range of abilities among their students. The Challenge Day kicked off with a festive opening ceremony and upon completing the skill at their respective station, athletes were recognized with Challenge Medals presented by Prince George’s County Police officers. It was great demonstration of defining a specific motor skill development objective for each individual to measure success for these athletes.
Thank you to the teachers, administrators, families, law enforcement volunteers and supporters for making it a memorable day for these student athletes and their families.
