Healthy Communities

The Healthy Communities Program of Special Olympics Maryland is made possible by a generous grant from the Special Olympics International.  Special Olympics Health, made possible by the Golisano Foundation, is working to achieve inclusive health of individuals with intellectual disabilities, which means equitable access to quality health care, education, and services throughout Maryland.  By shifting Special Olympics Maryland’s Health Program from a 1-day Healthy Athletes event at Summer Games to a more holistic health, wellness, and fitness program, we hope to achieve Healthy Communities by 2023 and more importantly, help our athletes achieve greater success on the playing field through improved health.
