Healthy Young Athletes at KKI SEEHS (South East Early Head Start)

Special Olympics Maryland’s Healthy Young Athletes program recently partnered with KKI SEEHS as part of the Child Family Health Cohort to support early childhood health and development.

This year, 47 students participated in Young Athletes in Schools programming, and 10 students were screened during the Healthy Young Athletes screening event on Friday, May 8. This marks the third year of our continued partnership with KKI.

Healthy Young Athletes provides holistic pediatric screenings for children ages 2–7, with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. These screenings complement routine primary care by offering an additional check of a child’s health and development, along with connections to follow-up care, community resources, and educational support for families and caregivers.

Through early identification and support, the program helps ensure children have the tools and services they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
