August 2017

Greetings Supporter,

If you’re a sports fan or an active athlete, the fall season offers many choices - and there is no greater example of choice than our Special Olympics Maryland Fall season. Over 1,000 athletes will train and compete in kayaking, golf, soccer, tennis, distance running, flag football, power lifting, and cycling.

Between now and November 1st, every weekend will have a full slate of competition in these sports. Game On!

From the Heart: Necklaces With a Bigger Meaning

Special Olympics Maryland athlete Alisa Ogden decided she wanted to spread love, raise awareness, and encourage acceptance. Today, Alisa's mission has touched people all over the country.

MYTH:  Summer Games is over, so I have to wait another year for a big Special Olympics Maryland competition.

FACT:  Athletes train and compete year-round! In addition to single-sport championships, Special Olympics Maryland also holds Fall Sports Festival, Winter Games, and Spring Games every year. Check out this year's Fall Sports Festival on October 21st at Mount St. Mary's University!

  Sponsor Highlight

From August 21st-27th, Chick-Fil-A locations across the state partnered with local law enforcement to host Cover the Cruiser nights. We saw an outpour of support from restaurant patrons as Police Officers, volunteers, and Special Olympics Athletes were able to raise over $25,000 over the course of the week.

Thank you Chick-Fil-A for your partnership in supporting the current and future athletes of Special Olympics Maryland!
