The 22nd annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Maryland, hosted by our good friends at the Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Services – Sandy Point State Park, demonstrated the very best of what it means to be a Marylander.

I am inspired every day by our athletes, their families, the law enforcement community, and all the supporters that are helping create interactive inclusive communities of dignity and respect.

2018 MSP Polar Bear Plunge

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From January 25th-27th, nearly 10,000 Plungers came out to Sandy Point State Park for the 2018 Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge. Thanks to your support, almost $2.5 million was raised for Special Olympics Maryland!

Thank You, Law Enforcement!

At this year's Police Plunge, Governor Larry Hogan presented Anne Arundel County athlete Michael Heup with the Jimmy Myrick, Jr. Governor's Courage Award.

In its 10th year, the Police Plunge had a record number of participants with 988 registered, and raised a record amount of over $200,000 for Special Olympics Maryland. The top Police Plunge fundraising team was once again Baltimore Police Department ($24,445) and the top academy was Maryland State Police ($11,035). Thank you to the fine men and women in law enforcement!

Maryland Basketball Hosts Clinic

On January 13th, the University of Maryland men's basketball program teamed up with Special Olympics Maryland athletes for the third straight year.

SOMD Athletes Compete at Xperience Tennis Invitational

From January 11th-13th, two Special Olympics Maryland athletes traveled to Charlottesville, VA to compete in the 11th Annual Xperience Tennis Invitational hosted by Special Olympics Virginia.
