At any Special Olympics Maryland event, look just beyond the smiling faces of the athletes and you will see the proud faces of their family members. Not only are our families providing all the love and support that their athlete needs to be successful, but they are also acting as agents of change within their communities, helping to pave the way for the next generation of athletes so that they may experience tolerance and acceptance.
Family members of Special Olympics are coaches, Unified Partners, Volunteers, Area Leaders, Team Managers, and so much more. If you are a family member interested in becoming more involved in our programs locally or across the state, please get in touch!
The SOMD family network is critical to the continued success of this organization– it is our hope that you will feel welcome and become involved as supporters, cheerleaders, volunteers, committee members, coaches, and in all other components of the program. After all, if you are a fan of your sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, grandsons and granddaughters, then you are already a fan of SOMD!
