2026 Season Competitions

Sanction forms are provided by the host Area and include info such as location, overall schedule, directions to site and contact information. Information is subject to change/update.

Competition schedules are developed during the week prior to the competition and include individual game schedules. Information is subject to change/update. These are distributed to coaches via email on the Thursday evening prior to the competition date and posted on this page.

Coaches are encouraged to complete a Competition Feedback Form after each qualifier they attend to let us know about their matches. The fillable form can be found below as well as above in the "Coach Resources" section.

To register a team for any of the above competitions, please email Jordan Crumback (jcrumback@somd.org) at least one week in advance. (Registration will be "automatic" for the required qualifier so there is no need to contact Jordan for that event.)

Coach Education and Training Opportunities

If your Area Program would like to host a training opportunity for a specific area of focus, please reach out to Jordan Crumback (jcrumback@somd.org).

When getting ready for your upcoming season, please review the chart in this section for required certifications for Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Sport Volunteers. Make sure these requirements are met BEFORE the season competition begins. See below for available training opportunities for this Cheerleading season.

Softball Sport-Specific Trainings (Required Certification for All Head Coaches)

Softball Sport-Specific Training: In-Person

     At this time, there will be no in-person sport-specific training opportunities for the 2026 Softball season. If you are a new Head Coach and need sport-specific training, or if you need to renew your certification through an SOMD-sanctioned training, please complete the online Softball course offered through Human Kinetics. Details can be found below.

Softball Sport-Specific Training: Virtual Self-Paced

For anyone interested in renewing or receiving their Cheerleading Sport-Specific Certification, SOMD offers virtual and self-paced courses through Human Kinetics. Currently, there is one course offered, "Coaching Softball Technical and Tactical Skills". Course details and instructions can be found on this PDF linked here.

Coaches are advised that some content in some courses must be “adapted” for use with the age and ability of their athletes. When selecting a course, if “Special Olympics” is not included on the “choose and association . . .” list, then select “Human Kinetics Coach Education” from the droplist (SO is not listed on all courses).

SOMD will reimburse up to $50 of course registration fee with documentation of both payment and successful course completion/passing (submit both to coaches@somd.org). Some Area programs are able to reimburse any registration fees not covered by the SOMD reimbursement. Contact your Area leadership to see if your Area is in a financial position to
provide this support.
