2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run

This June, thousands of law enforcement officers, public safety personnel, athletes, and supporters joined together across Maryland as part of the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Maryland. From the Ocean City Boardwalk to the mountains of Garrett and Allegany Counties, communities statewide united to carry the Flame of Hope on its journey to Summer Games Opening Ceremonies.
The Flame of Hope traveled through Ocean City, Frederick, Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Prince George’s County, Howard County, Harford County, Cecil County, Chestertown, Queen Anne’s County, Easton, Laurel, Carroll County, Garrett County Schools, Allegany County, the MTA, and many more communities. Along the way, officers ran across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, through city streets and rural towns, and into school communities where students and families lined the routes in support.
More than a relay, the Torch Run represents a powerful partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics Maryland athletes—one rooted in inclusion, opportunity, and shared purpose. Every mile carried the message of acceptance and support while raising awareness and resources for thousands of athletes across the state.
From the Boardwalk to the Bay Bridge and everywhere in between, the 2026 Torch Run once again showcased the extraordinary commitment of Maryland’s law enforcement and public safety community to Special Olympics Maryland.
