2024 State Bowling Championships
Excitement Rolls at the 2024 State Bowling Tournament
The 2024 State Bowling Tournament on December 8th, at Crofton Bowling Center, kicked off in style with an inspirational Opening Ceremony. Special Olympics Maryland athletes, Annu Singleton from Baltimore City and Willie Okobokekeimei from Prince George’s County led the festivities as co-emcees, setting the tone for day that featured great competition among 160 bowlers and Unified teammates of all ages and abilities.
This year’s tournament highlighted remarkable growth, with 603 SOMD bowlers and 27 Unified teammates advancing from five regional competitions—a notable increase from last year’s 507 bowlers and 22 Unified teammates.
The event was made even more memorable thanks to the presence of Mike Obremski, Sons of the American Legion Commander for the Detachment of Maryland, and other members of the American Legion family. Their steadfast support, along with the Sons of the American Legion’s role as the presenting sponsor, continues to elevate this tournament to new heights.
A shoutout to all the coaches who coached the bowlers during the season, to all the family members and supporters who also made the season possible and all the tournament-day volunteers, including those from the law enforcement community, who provided a memorable competition. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s event and celebrated the spirit of inclusion, determination, and teamwork!
