2024 Dream Ride
From Friday, August 23, through Sunday, August 25, 2024, four Special Olympics Maryland athletes participated in the annual Dream Ride Experience Weekend in Farmington, CT. The athletes included Joe Wu, Kegan Zimmerman, Thomas Smith, and Brandon McLarin. During the weekend, Joe, Kegan, Thomas, and Brandon enjoyed various activities, including the polo party, Dream Ride Gold Cup, Saturday Dream Ride, dealer stroll, VIP lounge, live music, cheering on Dream Riders in Unified Sports, the Pet Adoption Expo, Firefighter Chili Cook-Off, RC car races, and the Dream Show viewing. Their participation was made possible by a grant provided by the Dream Ride Foundation.
The Dream Ride Experience is the signature fundraising event of The Hometown Foundation, Inc. The weekend features family fun for all, with live music, food, vendors, and more! It includes the Saturday Dream Ride, a 40-mile, police-escorted motorcycle tour through the Farmington, Connecticut countryside; the Dream Cruise, a police-escorted journey where drivers pair up with Dream Riders in their classic and exotic vehicles for a 17-mile cruise; and culminates with the Sunday Dream Show, featuring cars and motorcycles in the largest cause-related car show on the East Coast.
The athletes were able to attend thanks to a grant provided to Special Olympics Maryland by The Hometown Foundation. As shown in the pictures and the wrap-up video, the Special Olympics athletes had a blast!
