Chuck-and-Mike-229 years ago, the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics came to Maryland. Since 1986, dedicated law enforcement officers from every corner of our state have worked tirelessly year-round, volunteering, creating awareness and raising money for Special Olympics Maryland through many different special events including Polar Bear Plunges, Dunks, Cops on Roof Tops, Tip-a-Cops, Golf Tournaments, 5K’s, 10K’s and many more special events

Recently one of many great supporters, Detective Chuck Bealefeld of the Annapolis Police Department, was awarded Police Officer of the Year in his department. It was awarded by the Severna Park Elks. Chuck was also awarded a citation for his service to Special Olympics by the Mayor of Annapolis. The Elks award was on March 29 and the City Council meeting was on March 9.

We asked Maryland Media in Motions own reporter Anne Arundel County athlete Michael Heup to sit down with Detective Bealefeld and ask him a few questions. Click on the audio player below to listen to the interview.
