Great American Harley Davidson Raffle

Harley Davidson of Maryland generously donates
a new Harley Davidson motorcycle annually to SOMD, which is used to
conduct a raffle. The 2005 raffle is being coordinated by the
Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts. All proceeds benefit SOMD.

The MSP Southern Maryland Shiver
in the River
Saturday, December 3, 2005
Register beginning at noon; Shiver at 2 p.m.
The Shiver is the first of three events
that make up the MSP “Winter Water Series”. Participants will raise a minimum of $50 in pledges to
jump into the Potomac River at Gilligan's Restaurant in the
frosty month of December. All
proceeds benefit SOMD and participants receive an official Shiver
sweatshirt, Gilligan's lunch, and of course, a nice Shiver
in the River.

Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge
January 28, 2006

There’s nothing like taking the “plunge”
into the Chesapeake Bay in late January. Thousands of plungers brave the chilly Bay waters at Sandy
Point State Park to complete the second part of the MSP “Winter
Water Series”. Plungers
raise a minimum of $50 in pledges and receive a Plunge sweatshirt,
Big Bats Cafe lunch, group color photo, and a cool dip in the Bay.

Beat the winter blues and kick of SOMD's Mountain
Madness Weekend by tubin’
and groovin’ at Wisp Deep Creek Mountain Resort. Hosted by Bear Claw Snow-tubing Park at Wisp, this is an
evening full of snow-tubing, live reggae music by Mama Jama, food and drink.
All proceeds benefit SOMD. Admission is $29, which includes 6 hours of tubing,
live music and meal.

“Winter Water Series”. Hundreds of die-hards take the brisk dip into Deep Creek Lake
at the end of February to raise funds for the athletes of SOMD.
Dunkers raise a minimum of $50 in pledges and receive an
official Dunk sweatshirt, Uno’s Chicago Bar & Grill lunch, and
definitely, a dunk in the Lake.

Allegany Co. Sheriff’s Office Train Pull
Saturday, July 9, 2005 - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Western Maryland Scenic Railway
Take your chance to tug on a piece of history,
by pulling a steam locomotive across the iron rails of
Cumberland’s Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. The competitor is a Baldwin 2-8-0 Steam Locomotive, which
weighs in excess of 500,000 pounds…yes, that’ right…over 250
tons! Teams compete for
the fastest pull and the lowest team weight pull. All
participants receive a Train Pull t-shirt and team photo with the
locomotive.

MD Division of Correction Commissioner’s Invitational Tug of
War

More than 2,000 law enforcement officers
throughout Maryland will run hundreds of miles to escort the Flame
of Hope to Towson University for the start of SOMD Summer Games. The Flame travels from all four corners of the state to
arrive for the Final Leg.

Oxford Cardboard Boat Race

a.m.
This hilarious attempt to make cardboard float
feature’s a child’s race, funny and fast boat races, and the
most anticipated race of the day, the Battle of the Brave.
Boats are available to rent or buy, or make your own.
Presented by Boat Bums, International, this fun event takes
place at the Strand in Oxford MD, with all proceeds benefiting SOMD.
