Online Coaching Courses
through American Sport Education Program
Special Olympics
Maryland (SOMD), in conjunction with Special Olympics North America, is
proud to introduce American Sport Education Program (ASEP) online coaching
courses designed to meet the continuing education or Level III training
requirement of the SOMD Coach Education Program. These sport-specific
Coaching Youth [Sport] e-courses are now available for basketball, soccer,
softball, tennis volleyball and sports first-aid. ASEP is currently working
to develop online courses for each recognized Special Olympics sport and
will have them online as soon as they are available.
SOMD coaches who have
completed the Level One (General Session and Protective Behaviors) and
Level II sport-specific training are eligible to take ASEP's online
Coaching Youth [Sport] e-courses to maintain or upgrade certification in
their respective sports.
Coaches may purchase
the ASEP online Coaching Youth [Sport] e-courses by credit card for the
Special Olympics discount price of $30 by following the instructions below.
- Go to
http://www.asep.com/asep_content/org/SONA.cfm.
- Review the introductory page.
- Click on "Course Catalog" on the left-hand menu bar
- Complete registration for the desired sport-specific course.
Available courses are found at the bottom of the page.
The US$30 course fee
includes access to the course and a copy of both the Coaching Youth [Sport]
book and video. Registrants will be sent these materials by ASEP after

passing) and are sent a certificate. Coaches are also registered in the
Special Olympics database for verification of course completion.
