We are very happy to offer the Beginner Global Messenger Training on the weekend of April 10-11th, 2015 at the Chesapeake YMCA in Easton, MD.
This session will occur on Friday evening (5pm-9pm) and all day Saturday.
Discussion topics include:
-What makes Special Olympics unique
-Roles of a Global Messenger and Ambassadors
-What is a speech and developing your 30 second elevator speech
-Parts of a speech and what goes into a speech, etc
-and much, much more.
All topics build on each other to increase skills and knowledge that will help athletes create a small speech/presentation to be given at the end of Saturday.
Are you a Special Olympics Maryland athlete who has an interest in the Athlete Leadership Program and public speaking? Do you know someone who would be great in this role?
Athletes who are interested should forward their name and contact information to email@example.com.
The deadline for applications is April 03rd, 2015.
We will offer meals on Friday night and Saturday lunch. We will also offer all materials and supplies.
Overnight accommodations must be paid by the attendee.
The success of this training and subsequently the athletes participating is increased if we have mentors to work with the athletes/participants those two days. So if there are mentors from your local area county program they are welcome to attend. Mentors should also contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register and indicate the county they are with.
Jason Schriml and members of the ALPS’s Task force will be leading and facilitating the session.
