Buddy Information (Click Here)

Thank you for volunteering to be a “BUDDY for the day” with a Special Olympic athlete.  Your task is important. .  . the safety and care of a Special Friend.  It is important that you and the athlete have an exciting fun filled day.

 ·         KNOW where your athlete is at all times.

·         KNOW the athlete’s name and the athlete should know yours.

·         BACK TAG will give you the Event, Time, Location and Heat number.

·         MAP will pinpoint EVENT LOCATIONS, RESTROOMS, FIRST AID AND PERSONAL CARE SERVICES.

·         The MASTER OF CEREMONIES, located in the main grandstand, can help you locate a staff member from the athlete’s school if one is needed.

The ATHLETES should be given every opportunity to function INDEPENDENTLY at the Games.

IT IS URGENT AND CRITICAL THAT VOLUNTEER “BUDDY’S” REMAIN WITH THEIR ATHLETE FROM THE TIME THEY ARE INTRODUCED UNTIL THE ATHLETE BOARDS THE BUS TO RETURN TO THEIR SCHOOL.  AFTER THE ATHLETE HAS COMPLETED THEIR EVENTS, YOU MAY VISIT OTHER EVENTS, REQUEST SOFT DRINKS FROM THE REFRESHMENT AREA, EAT LUNCH, OR RETURN TO THE STANDS.
